The Electrical Controls Engineer is responsible for technical support for small to mid scale projects - typically, development and/or implementation of new manufacturing technology in support of new product lines or improvements in existing product lines. The key to success in this position is problem solving and utilizing technical knowledge to get to the root cause of a problem rather than simply identifying symptoms. A successful Electrical Controls Engineer is self-motivated and a natural trouble-shooter who is able to react quickly under pressure, prioritizes workload, and manages several tasks concurrently. Modify electrical designs, layout, and support the build of custom control systems/panels using a combination of PLC programming and electrical panel design and layout.
This position is based out of our headquarters in Port Washington, WI, and some travel to our local facilities will be required on a weekly basis.
2-5 years of PLC programming using Rockwell software (RSLogix Studio, RSLogix 5000, 500, 5, programming knowledge preferred)
Willing and able to work on existing production equipment and troubleshoot issues
Experience interfacing PLC’s with the HMI/MMI (Programming with FactoryTalk View)
Be proficient in the application of AC, DC, and Servo Drives
Have a working knowledge of machine vision systems and prior experience with Cognex vision components
Recent AutoCAD experience required. AutoCAD Electrical experience is preferred
Develops electrical control panel drawings and generates bills of material;
Will support the design engineer on projects, working with minimal supervision
Good computer skills, including the use of standard office software programs including spreadsheet, word-processing, and email applications;
Strong electrical knowledge & communication skills;
Good understanding of NEC code and compliance
Maintaining and modifying existing process control systems;
Work collaboratively with design engineers, operation engineers, purchasers and other internal staff;
Occasional Project management within cost and time constrained environments;
Provide advice and consultancy support
